Build Your List

Hello everyone, I'm a 27-year resident of Las Vegas and a 17-year veteran in the real estate business. The first 16 of those years, I worked for builders selling new homes. First-time buyers are my absolute favorite since I didn't buy my first home until 1992 at the ripe old age of 32.

That experience and the influence of my wonderful salesperson for that first home, Donna Niles (God rest her soul) is what lead me to my career. I told myself then that if I could help someone else have that experience (getting into a home that they never thought they could), I would have fulfilled my purpose in life.

From 1992 to 2007, I lived, ate and breathed new home sales. Unfortunately, as I look back at it now, my enthusiasm for my career and the high stress environment that real estate is, gave my family a great lifestyle, but not much of a family life. That stresswas a major contributor to my becoming severely ill five years ago. The diagnosis, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Not fun.

New home sales looks easy from the outside. Sit in a nicely furnished(sometimes) office in beautifully decorated models (sometimes) and just take checks from excited future homeowners. Not quite that easy, Pookey.

Those years of stress were a major contributor to my becoming severely ill five years ago. The diagnosis, Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Not fun.

Both the Resale Market and the New Home Market each have their challenges, but in the last couple of years as we've all seen (unless you've been living on some remote island) the real estate market have taken a monumental beating and Real Estate Professionals (and I'm talking about anyone in a housing relatedfield, too) have seen their incomes drastically cut and are left asking "what do I do now?"

Waiting it out isn't an option. No one really knows when the market will turn and even then, recovery may be years down the road.

What had to happen for me, as well as many of my friends, was to find a better way to market ourselves and our expertice into our "Plan B".

Today most of my business is done online through places like this blog, my two websites (more in the works) and finding contacts, referrals and business partners on the social media sites like Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Also, I made the decision that no more would I "put all my eggs in one basket". I have a Home Based Business that provides me with residual income that comes in from several sources. Coaching and training other folks how to do the same thingis something I get a lot of pleasure doing. Let me know how I can help you.

I look forward to meeting you.

To Your Success,
Sonrisas(smiles),

Beth
